What this report does
Lists all inspections performed on components in the selected units under the selected regulation during the selected date range. Each row is one inspection — showing the component, date, inspection type, reading or pass/fail result, leak definition, technician, and analyzer.
The report supports M21 (EPA Method 21), AVO (Audio, Visual, and Olfactory), and OGI (Optical Gas Imaging) inspection types, either individually or combined in the same output. Use it to review inspection coverage and readings for a period, look up a specific component's inspection history, or confirm technician and analyzer assignments. This report is available directly on the Reports tab.
When to use it
- Reviewing all inspections performed on a unit or set of components during a period.
- Looking up the reading or result recorded on a specific inspection.
- Confirming which technician and analyzer were used for each inspection.
- Identifying inspections where a reading exceeded the leak definition.

What's included and excluded
Included:
- All inspections of the selected type(s) performed on components in the selected units during the date window.
- Only components mapped to the selected regulation.
- Only component types selected in the Comp Types parameter.
Excluded:
- Inspections outside the selected date range.
- Inspection types not selected.
- Components not mapped to the selected regulation.
- Component types not selected.
- Cooling Tower inspections (excluded system-wide from this report).
How key values are calculated
Reading (M21 only)
Reading = MaxPPM − Background PPM
The net emission reading from the M21 inspection. Blank for AVO and OGI inspections.
AVO/OGI Result
"Pass" or "Fail" for AVO and OGI inspections, based on the pass/fail status recorded on the inspection. Blank for M21 inspections.
Leak Def
The PPM threshold(s) from the regulation's leak definition(s) assigned to the component, as of the inspection date. When a component has multiple leak definitions (for example, because multiple rules apply), all thresholds are shown comma-separated. Blank for AVO and OGI.
Freq
The inspection frequency assigned to the component for the selected inspection type under the regulation, as of the end of the report period.
Analyzer
For M21 inspections: the analyzer's serial number. For OGI inspections: the camera code. For AVO inspections: blank (no analyzer is recorded for AVO).
Tips and common questions
- "Reading is blank for some rows." Reading is only populated for M21 inspections. AVO and OGI rows always have a blank Reading column.
- "AVO/OGI Result is blank for some rows." This column is only populated for AVO and OGI inspections. M21 rows always have a blank AVO/OGI Result.
- "I selected all three inspection types but only some appear." Only inspection types that actually have records for the selected components and date range will appear. If no OGI inspections occurred, no OGI rows will show.
- "Leak Def shows two numbers separated by a comma." The component has multiple leak definitions under the regulation — possibly from separate rules. Both thresholds are shown for reference.
- "M21 Variance is blank." A blank M21 Variance means no variance was recorded on that inspection. Variances are only recorded when a specific variance condition applies.
Sample output
Report run for Example Facility, Regulation: CFR-HON, Unit Type: Location Unit, Units: All, StartDate: 1/1/2024, EndDate: 8/13/2024.
What the rows illustrate:
Connectors on 1/18/2024 — AVO Pass sweep: Seven connector rows all inspected on the same date by George Smith with AVO/OGI Result = Pass, no Reading, and no Analyzer — consistent with a single-day AVO walkthrough of the ALKY unit connector population.
Connectors on 3/27/2024 — mixed Pass and Fail results: The same connectors return on 3/27/2024 with a mix of Pass and Fail results. Tags 00374.05, 00383.01 (twice), and 00383.02 all show Fail, while 00351.01 and 00351.03 Pass. Tag 00383.01 appears twice on 3/27/2024 with Fail on both rows, illustrating that a component can have more than one inspection recorded on the same date.
Tag 00290.009 (Connector, M21, 4/5/2024): Reading = 99999 against a Leak Def of 500.0 — a reading far above the leak definition threshold, indicating a leak. This is the only M21 connector row in the sample; Analyzer = phx42-8545, M21 Variance = None.
Pumps — M21 inspections with readings below Leak Def: Tags 00291, 00303.01, 00323.01, 00303.01, 00303.02, and 00431.01 all show M21 readings (25, 63, 23, 58, 52, 30) against a Leak Def of 1000.0. All readings are well below threshold. Two different analyzers appear — phx42-8545 and phx42-2036 — showing that more than one analyzer was used during the period.
Tags 00290.003 (Valve) and 00291 (Pump) on 6/17/2024 — AVO Pass: Both rows show an AVO Pass result with "Testing 1" in the Analyzer column. AVO inspections do not normally record an analyzer.
Total: 23: All 23 inspections fall within the single ALKY unit section, with no other units appearing in this run.
