A daily calibration confirmation records that an analyzer was verified against known cylinder gases before the day's inspections. Most sites capture this automatically with a SpanBox, but you can also enter a confirmation by hand when a SpanBox is not available, when an analyzer cannot use one, or when you need to record a calibration after the fact.
There are two ways to enter one manually: directly in Chateau on a computer, or in Chateau Mobile on the handheld. Both are described below.
When you enter a confirmation in Chateau, you set Pass or Fail on each cylinder yourself. There is one exception: if the analyzer has calibration tolerances on file, Chateau evaluates your readings against them and stores the result it calculates rather than the one you picked. Tolerances reach Chateau by syncing from a SpanBox — there is no screen in Chateau for entering them by hand — so this applies to analyzers that have been used with a SpanBox. Confirmations entered in Chateau Mobile are different: the Input Confirmation PPM screen has no Pass/Fail control, so they are recorded as Passed regardless of the readings. Review them in Chateau if pass/fail accuracy matters. (The handheld's Input Drift Record screen does let you set the result — see Manually Entering Drifts.)
Entering in Chateau
Go to Resources > Calibrations > Daily Calibrations and click Add Calibration.
Choose the Analyzer and Technician, and set the Probe Type (Standard is the default).
On the Daily Calibration tab, set the Calibration Time.
Click Add Cylinder and select each span cylinder that was used. If a cylinder is not in the list, you can create it inline without leaving the screen (or add it first under Resources > Cylinders).
For each cylinder, enter the Confirmation PPM reading and mark the result Pass or Fail.
Optionally add a comment, then click Save.
You do not have to enter the drifts at the same time. You can save the daily calibration on its own and come back later to add its Noon and End-of-Day drifts — the drift tabs stay locked until the daily calibration itself is saved. See Manually Entering Drifts.
Once a passing daily calibration exists for an analyzer, that analyzer is ready for the day's M21 inspections.
Entering in Chateau Mobile
Entering on the handheld requires a Bluetooth connection between the analyzer and the device running Chateau Mobile. You can do it with or without a tour assigned to you.
Make sure you are connected to an analyzer and checked out. Open the main menu (top-left) and select Calibrations.
Tap Input Confirmation PPM.
Enter the calibration time and probe type, then tap Next.
If cylinders were used before to confirm this analyzer, you will be asked whether to use the same ones. Otherwise, select cylinders from the Cylinder Selection list or tap Add New Cylinder to add new ones.
Tap Next to open the Confirmation Test page.
The analyzer's current reading appears in the Analyzer PPM field. Tap Record & Next to use it, or type a value in the Manual PPM field and tap Record & Next to use that instead.
Repeat for each cylinder. You can tap the confirmation PPM, date, and time in the grid to edit them.
Tap Save Confirmation.
The confirmation data becomes available in Chateau after you check in.
Editing a daily calibration
A calibration you entered manually can be corrected later: open it from the Daily Calibrations grid and change the readings, the Pass/Fail result, or the details. Calibrations that came from a SpanBox are locked and cannot be edited.
If you change a calibration's date or time, Chateau re-checks the inspections that relied on it, since which inspections a calibration covers depends on when it happened.
Viewing your daily calibrations
Go to Resources > Calibrations > Daily Calibrations, choose a date range, and click Search. Records are grouped by session (one analyzer on one date), and each session heading shows the Pass/Fail/Pending status of the daily calibration and its drifts, and a Source column marks whether each record came from a SpanBox or was entered manually.
