Activity Log

The Activity Log page (Settings > Activity Log) is a read-only record of every change made on the Settings pages. For each change it captures who made it, when it happened, which Settings area it was in, and the value before and after. It gives a regulated facility a simple way to answer "who changed this setting, and what was it before?" without contacting support.

Who can view: the Activity Log requires the Chateau Access role. It is read-only for everyone — there is no way to add, edit, or delete entries from this page, which is what makes it a trustworthy record.

What the Activity Log records

The log records a row every time someone changes a value on a Settings page — for example, an inspection sample time, a picklist value, a Work Days & Holidays entry, a Quality Signals threshold, or an Emissions factor set.

Each change is recorded in the same step as the change itself, so the log always matches what was actually saved.

Reading the log

Entries are listed newest first, in a grid with these columns:

• When — the date and time of the change
   
• Who — the user who made it
   
• Settings Tab — the Settings tab the change was in
   
• Type and Item — what was changed
   
• Action — one of Create (a value set for the first time, so the old value is blank), Edit (an existing value changed, with both old and new shown), Delete, Hide or Unhide. There is no "Update" — searching for that word will find nothing.
   
• Property, Old Value, New Value — the field and its before/after values

Finding a specific change

Use the controls at the top of the page to narrow the list:

• Date Range — set a Start and End date to focus on a period. The page opens on the last 30 days.
   
• Settings area — limit the list to one Settings tab.
   
• User — limit the list to one person's changes.
   
• Search — type to search within the results.
   
• Refresh — re-runs the query. The date range only takes effect when you press this.
   
• Clear filters — resets the controls back to their defaults.

There is no page-size control and no pager: the grid shows everything the query returned, with a Rows count in the bottom-right corner. The grid's own Menu, Columns and Filters panels down the right-hand edge give you per-column filtering and an export to Excel or CSV, which is usually the quickest way to hand a change history to an auditor.

Settings area and User narrow what is already on screen as soon as you pick them. Date Range is different — it changes what gets fetched, so press Refresh after changing it or the grid will keep showing the old period.

One thing worth knowing: the Settings area and User lists are built from the rows currently loaded, not from a fixed list. Narrow the date range and options disappear from those dropdowns, which can look as though an area is not tracked when it simply has no changes in the period you are looking at. Widen the dates and press Refresh before concluding anything is missing.

What is and isn't covered

• The Activity Log covers changes made on the Settings pages. Changes made elsewhere in Chateau are not part of this log.
   
• Only changes recorded from the point this feature was released appear. Chateau shows a note at the top of the page giving that date; an empty stretch earlier than it is expected rather than missing data.
