Standard Frequency
Components managed under SMM or AMM begin with a semi-annual (S) or annual (A) inspection frequency. This is the baseline schedule for any new component that does not have a history of recent leaks. This differs from MMQ, where new components start in a monthly phase.
Frequency Changes After a Leak
If a leak is detected on a component, its Skip Phase will change to M1 cause Chateau to schedule an M1 inspection the month after the leak. This is to ensure the repair is effective and no new leaks occur.
The component will require monthly inspections until it achieves two consecutive months of passing inspections (M1 and M2).
Once two back-to-back monthly inspections are passed, the component will automatically return to its original semi-annual or annual frequency.
Impact of Missed Inspections
The impact of a missed inspection depends on the component’s current monitoring phase:
Monthly (M1 or M2) Phase: If a scheduled M1 or M2 inspection is missed, the monthly monitoring cycle will reset. The component will need to restart the process of achieving two consecutive passing monthly inspections.
Semi-Annual or Annual Phase: Missing a regular semi-annual or annual inspection will not reset the monitoring phase. The component will remain on its standard schedule.
M21Why Phase Descriptions
The acronym SMM stands for Semi-Annual Monthly Monthly. This name describes the entire potential monitoring path: the component begins at a Semi-Annual frequency and, if a leak is found, steps down to two consecutive Monthly inspections (M1 and M2) before returning to the standard schedule.
The “M21Why” code indicates the current monitoring status of a component. For SMM and AMM, the phases are defined as follows:

Switching Between AMM and SMM Frequencies
If you need to change a component’s monitoring schedule between Annual (AMM) and Semi-Annual (SMM), the system is designed to manage this transition smoothly. Remove the rule with the AMM frequency and assign a new rule with SMM.
