Overview
Cooling tower inspections require certified equipment. You must enter these tools into Chateau to ensure compliance checks during mobile inspections. While they are managed in the same area of the software, standard tools and strippers have slightly different requirements.
Part A: Standard Tools (Thermometers & Rotameters)
Thermometers, Water Rotameters, and Air Rotameters require active Certification Expiration dates. Chateau Mobile will block inspections if these dates are past due.
- Navigate to Resources > Cooling Tower Tools.
- Select the sub-tab for the tool type (e.g., Thermometers or Water Rotameters).
- Click Add.
-
Enter Details:
- Serial Number: Required.
- Certification Expiration: Required. This triggers audit alerts 30 days prior to expiration.
- Upload Documentation: Click Add Document, select Certification Doc, and upload the file. Click Save.
Managing Tool Status
- Recertification: To update a tool, select it in the grid, click Edit, and update the expiration date. Upload the new certification documentation by clicking Add Document and selecting Certification Doc.
- Deactivation: If a tool is retired, select it and click Deactivate. This removes it from the selection list in Chateau Mobile.
Part B: Cylinders
See Managing Cylinders on how to add a gas cylinder in Resources for your Water Blank Test and Zero Air Drifts.
When adding your cylinder you should choose Gas Type = Cooling Tower Zero Air for the cylinder technicians will use in the field for these procedures. For the calibration and drifts, add the cylinders with a Gas Type = Methane or Zero as you would normally.
Part C: Strippers
Strippers are handled a little differently. Instead of just an expiration date, they also require a Certification Date (the date the unit was last verified for efficiency).
- Navigate to Resources > Cooling Tower Tools and select the Strippers sub-tab.
- Click Add.
-
Enter Details:
- Serial Number: Enter the unique ID for the stripper unit.
- Certification Date: Enter the date of the last certification.
- Certification Expiration: Required. This triggers audit alerts 30 days prior to expiration.
- Upload Documentation: Click Add Document, select Certification Doc, and upload the file. Click Save.
Managing Tool Status
- Recertification: To update a tool’s certification, select it in the grid, click Edit, and click Add Certification to add a new certification and expiration date. The old certification dates will be retained for historical tracking. Upload the new certification documentation by clicking Add Document and selecting Certification Doc.
- Deactivation: If a tool is retired, select it and click Deactivate. This removes it from the selection list in Chateau Mobile.
