Managing Type, SubType, and SubSubType Picklists

The Component Type, SubType, and SubSubType picklists work as a tiered hierarchy, allowing you to categorize components in increasingly specific layers. Each level builds on the one above it:

• Type is the top-level category.
• SubType is linked to a specific Type.
• SubSubType is linked to both a specific Type and SubType.

This structure ensures accurate classification and easier component tracking.

How to Add a New Type

1. Click on Settings.
2. Click on Picklists.
3. Choose “Component Types” from the Category dropdown.
4. Click the Add button in the top-right corner.
5. Enter the name of the new Type.
6. Save the entry.

This new Type will now appear in the list and can be selected when adding SubTypes.

How to Add a New Subtype

1. In the Component Type list, click on the Type you want the SubType to be associated with.
2. The Component SubType list will populate with any existing SubTypes under that Type.
3. Click Add in the SubType list.
4. Enter the new SubType name.
5. Save the entry.

How to Add a New SubSubType

1. First, select the relevant Type from the Component Type list.
2. Next, click on the SubType that will be the parent of the new SubSubType.
3. The SubSubType picklist will display any existing entries linked to that SubType.
4. Click Add in the SubSubType list.
5. Enter the name of the new SubSubType.
6. Save the entry.
