Tag Search Function

The Tag Search function in Chateau allows users to quickly locate specific tags and view their associated components. This article outlines how to use the tag search bar efficiently.

1. Locate the Tag Search Bar

   • In Chateau, navigate to the top-left corner of your current grid view.
      

   • You will see a search bar labeled “Tag Search.”
      

     

      

2. Enter the Tag Number

   • Type the tag number you wish to locate into the search bar.
      

   • Enter the whole tag. Tag Search matches the tag exactly — it is not a partial or "starts with" search, so typing 40 finds the component tagged 40 and will not return 401, 402 or 403.
      

   • Capitals and accents do not matter: abc-1, ABC-1 and ÁBC-1 all find the same tag.
      

3. Initiate the Search

   • Press Enter on your keyboard, or click the magnifying-glass icon beside the box.
      

   • Chateau will search for any tags that match your entry, including deactivated components.
      

   • Only approved components are returned. A component suggested in Chateau Mobile that is still waiting on approval on the New Component Porch will not appear in the results, and neither will one that was rejected. Approve it on the New Component Porch first, then search again.
      

4. View Results

   • One match — the component opens directly in Tag View, in a new tab named after the tag you searched.
      

   • More than one match — the same tag number can exist in more than one LUnit, so Chateau instead opens a Components grid tab named Tag Search "your entry" listing every match. From there you can interact with the components as needed.
      

   • No match — a Tag Not Found! message appears telling you there were no results for that tag.

Notes:

• Ensure there are no extra spaces before or after the tag number.
• If no results appear, double-check the tag number for accuracy.
