Reconciliation Porch

The Reconciliation Porch is a tool designed to help match newly added components (within the last two months) to existing components that have not been added or retagged in the past year.

This feature is especially useful during MOC (Management of Change) or tagging projects, where new physical tags are placed on existing components. It allows you to bring updated field information into the database without losing the original component history, ensuring data continuity while keeping records accurate and up to date.

Follow these steps to accurately match and reconcile component records without losing historical data:

Step 1: Search for Existing Components (Top Query)

Use the top query to find existing components that have not been added or retagged in the past year. These are the components with historical data that will be retained and updated with new field information.

Tip: It’s strongly recommended to keep the default query and only add filters if necessary to narrow your search.

Step 2: Search for New Tags (Bottom Query)

Use the bottom query to locate new tags added in the last two months. These may represent the same physical components as those found in Step 1.

When a new tag is matched to an older one, its data will be transferred to the existing component, and the new tag will be deactivated.

Tip: As above, leave the default query as-is unless you need to refine your results further.

Step 3: Match Components

Select one component from the top query and one from the bottom query, then click “Match Selected Components.”

Step 4: Confirm and Save

An edit screen will appear where you can:

  • Specify the reason for the change
  • Identify who is making the edit
  • Set approval status
  • Choose whether to run the rule engine

Once complete, click Save.

Repeat Steps 3 and 4 as needed until all relevant components are reconciled.

Notes:

  • You cannot match more than one component at a time.

  • The inspections on the tag in the bottom query will not be appended to the tag in the top query. Only the tag information will be brought over to the tag in the top query.

  • While we recommend only using this feature for matching newly added tags to existing tags, this can be used to match any tags together.
